Maggie Roffee is the Senior Program Manager in the Education and Outreach Division Office of Disability Employment Policy (ODEP) at the U.S. Department of Labor. Prior to her position with ODEP, she was Direction of Constituency Activities for the President’s Committee on Employment of People with Disabilities (where she provided technical assistance on disability employment to the business and advocacy community; coordinated the initiatives of the Committee’s membership; and supervised the staff support for the Business Leadership Network). She joined the President’s Committee, in 1992, following seven years as the Section Chief for Technical Assistance and Administration (with Montgomery County, Maryland’s Disability Resources Division). Maggie’s other professional experience includes Trauma Counselor at Suburban Hospital and Facility Planner, for implementation of Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1972, at the University of Maryland College Park. In addition to being a founding member and serving as Secretary of the independent living center (serving Montgomery and Prince George’s counties in Maryland since 1994), Maggie’s past community service included serving as a Board member and officer with the Spinal Cord Injury Network of Metropolitan Washington; a Board member and officer of HOW (a leadership program with 4-H for high school students with and without disabilities); member and chair of the Disabled Students’ Services Community Advisory Committee of Montgomery College; and staff advisor for the Disabled Students Services Organization at the University of Maryland College Park.
Maggie resides in Gaithersburg, Maryland with her husband, Larry, who has been a wheelchair user for 36 years.
