What is the Ohio Business Leadership Network?
The Ohio Business Leadership Network (Ohio BLN) is a part of the US Business Leadership Network (USBLN) which is a national organization that supports development and expansion of BLNs across the country, serving as their collective voice. U.S. BLN Goals:
- Supports development and expansion of BLNs across the country
- Serves as a collective voice for the state BLNs
- Recognizes and promotes best practices in hiring, retaining, and marketing to people with disabilities
The Ohio Business Leadership Network has 81 companies and 19 agencies, with more than 100 members from all over the state who are interested in promoting the employment of a diverse workforce including persons with disabilities. The Ohio BLN was established in 1999 and local chapters are located in Columbus, Akron/Canton, Cleveland, Toledo, and Cincinnati.
Ohio BLN Goals:
- Supports development of new and existing BLN chapters throughout the State
- Promotes education pertaining to the employment of persons with disabilities (ie reasonable accommodations, adaptive equipment, and policy/procedures)
- Recognizes employer excellence in conjunction with the Governor’s Council on People with Disabilities
- Promotes best practices in hiring, retaining, and advancing persons with disabilities
- Provides an informed speakers’ bureau with experts from the business and disability communities
